A Wireless EEG Acquisition System with Thermoelectric Scavenging Microdevice
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents a wireless EEG acquisition system powered by a thermoelectric energy scavenger, which was optimised to convert the small thermal power available in the human-body. The wireless EEG system is composed with up to four EEG electrodes. A radio-frequency (RF) transceiver for operation in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, was optimised and fabricated in the UMC RF 0.18 μm CMOS process. The receiver has a sensitivity of -60 dBm and consumes 6.3 mW from a 1.8 V supply. The transmitter delivers an output power of 0 dBm with a power consumption of 11.2 mW. Because listening and emitting are power-intensive activities, innovative topics concerning efficient power management was taken into account during the design of the RF CMOS transceiver.

Four-probe measurements of the in-plane thermoelectric properties of nanofilms.
Measuring in-plane thermoelectric properties of submicron thin films has remained a challenging task. Here we report a method based on a suspended microdevice for four-probe measurements of the Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and thermoelectric figure of merit of patterned indium arsenide (InAs) nanofilms assembled on the microdevice. The contact thermal resi...
متن کاملA Literature Survey on Wireless sensor network for Brain Computer Interface using ATMEGA128RFA1
Recent advances in computer hardware and signal processing have made possible the use of EEG signals or “brain waves” for communication between humans and Computers. The electrical nature of the human nervous system has been recognized for more than a century. It is well known that the variation of the surface potential distribution on the scalp reflects functional activities emerging from the ...
متن کاملNovel Hybrid Bioelectrodes for Ambulatory Zero-Prep EEG Measurements Using Multi-channel Wireless EEG System
This paper describes a wireless multi-channel system for zero-prep electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements in operational settings. The EEG sensors are based upon a novel hybrid (capacitive/resistive) bioelectrode technology that requires no modification to the skin’s outer layer. High impedance techniques developed for QUASAR’s capacitive electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors minimize the sensor’s s...
متن کاملLoad Frequency Control Based on Improved Fuzzy Controller in the Microgrid with Thermoelectric Generator
The Microgrid is a small-scale controlled power system, which can be used in islanded mode or in a grid-connected one to provide power. In the islanded Microgrid, the system frequency will be affected severely by the smallest disturbance which can happen due to light inertia in the system. In the independent Microgrid, several generation sources such as solar, wind, and so on can be considered....
متن کاملThick-film Piezoceramic Micro-generators
A sensor node is generally small in physical size (typically a few cm or smaller) and consist of a sensor, a transceiver, and supporting electronics. They are connected as a wireless network and are sometimes isolated and embedded in structures, which are not easily accessible. The lifespan of the sensor node is critically dependent upon the power source it contains. Instead of using a limited ...
